Networking on the AP1000
An FDDI interface has been designed and built for the AP1000 by Paul Mackerras which enables cells programs to communicate to other hosts at very high transfer rates. Details of this interface may be found here.
Networking software derived from BSD-4.4 has been built by both Paul Mackerras and David Sitsky which allows cell programs to use many of the BSD socket calls.
An ftp daemon AP1000 program which was derived from the BSD-4.4 distribution has been built which allows files to be transferred to/from the HiDIOS file system.
Documentation on how to use sockets and how to ftp to the AP1000 are described here. Paper references describing this work can be retrieved from here.
